VILNIUS-DRUSKININKAI-KAUNAS-THE HILL OF CROSSES-RUNDALE-RIGA-SKRUNDA-TALLIN-PALDISKI
DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN LITHUANIA
Arrival at Vilnius International Airport, located 15 minutes from downtown. Pick up from Vilnius airport by a member of the tour operator “Discover Baltics”. Private Coach transfer to the hotel. Dinner. Accommodation in Vilnius.
DAY 2: VILNIUS
Breakfast. Tour with English speaking guide to the historical Vilnius center. Here you can visit buildings, monuments and most representative places such as: the Gediminas Castle, Vilnius Cathedral, Presidential Palace, the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul, the Church of St. Ana, the Vilnius University, the Old City, Jewish quarter and the Gates of Dawn. Lunch. Visit the Museum of Genocide Victims, in where you can visit an old KGB prison, which consists 50 cells located in the basement of the building. Free Afternoon. Dinner. Accommodation in Vilnius.
DAY 3: KAUNAS
Breakfast. Departure by bus to the town Druskininkai, situated about 130 km southwest of Vilnius. Druskininkai is one of the oldest resorts in Lithuania. The trip to Grūtas Park (located 8 km from Druskininkai). This is an outdoor museum which displays sculptures of various characters from the Soviet time (with over 50 statues of Soviet ideology.) Lunch in Druskininkai. Departure by bus to the city Kaunas, located about 125 km north of Druskininkai. Kaunas is the second city in importance and size of Lithuania. Visit the Kaunas Cathedral, the Town Hall square, the famous house of the pagan God Perkūnas and several Gothic churches. Dinner. Accomodation in Kaunas.
DAY 4: HILL OF CROSSES – RUNDALE
Breakfast. Departure by bus from Kaunas. Stop at the Hill of Crosses, situated near the city Šiauliai (Lithuania). The Hill of Crosses is a symbol of Lithuanian people’s resistance against Russian occupation. Lunch. Stop at the village Rundale (Latvia) to visit the Rundale Palace. Dinner. Accommodation in Riga.
DAY 5: RIGA
Breakfast. Tour with the English speaking guide to the historic Riga’s center. Here you can visit the Lutheran Cathedral, the Church of Peter, the House of Blackheads, the Catholic Cathedral, the Freedom Monument, Riga Castle and the Art Nouveau District and others. Lunch. Free time after lunch. Dinner. Accommodation in Riga.
Optional: After lunch visit the small town Jurmala, located about 30 km from Riga. There you will find many resorts and beaches.
DAY 6: SKRUNDA
Breakfast. Departure to Skrunda. Skrunda, or known as Skrunda-1, is a secret Soviet city, which housed two radar installations during the Cold War. Skrunda-1 is now a ghost town since the last people who lived there. Lunch. Return to Riga. Dinner. Accommodation in Riga.
DAY 7: TALLIN
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure by bus to Tallinn, located just 300 km from Riga. Arrival in the capital of Estonia. Lunch. Tour with English speaking guide to Tallinn’s Old Town. Here you can visit the Town Hall Square, Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, the Cathedral of St. Maria and old Walls of Middle Ages. Lunch. Free afternoon to visit one of the many museums in the capital, shopping, or doing any other leisure activity and entertainment. Dinner. Accommodation in Tallinn.
DAY 8: PALDISKI
Breakfast. Departureby bus to Paldiski. In 1962 the village became a training center for nuclear submarines of the Soviet Navy. Lunch. Return to Tallinn. Farewell dinner. Accommodation in Tallinn.
DAY 9: DEPARTURE
