VILNIUS-TRAKAI-KAUNAS-KLAIPĖDA-JUODKRANTĖ-NIDA-PALANGA-THE HILL OF CROSSES-RIGA-SIGULDA-TALLINN-LAHEMAA
DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN LITHUANIA
Arrival at Vilnius International Airport, located 15 minutes from downtown. Pick up from Vilnius airport by an English speaking member of the tour operator “Discover Baltics”. Private bus transfer to hotel. Dinner. Accommodation inVilnius.
DAY 2: VILNIUS-TRAKAI
Breakfast. Tour with the English speaking guide to the historical Vilnius center, listed in World Heritage sites by UNESCO in1994. Visit buildings, monuments and most representative places such as: Gediminas castle, Vilnius Cathedral, Presidential Palace, St. Peter and St. Paul church, St. Ana’s church, Vilnius University, old town, Jewish quarter and gates of dawn. Lunch. Trip by bus to Trakai, to the medieval capital of Lithuania, situated 28 km west of Vilnius on the banks of lake Galvė. Visit the famous Trakai castle located on an island of lake Galvė. Return to Vilnius. Dinner. Accommodation inVilnius.
DAY 3: KAUNAS – KLAIPĖDA
Breakfast. Departure by bus to Klaipėda, which is the only country’s port city and third largest city of Lithuania, situated just over 300 km west of the capital, along the Baltic Sea. Stop in the second largest city of Lithuania, Kaunas. Visit to Kaunas Cathedral, town hall square (“Rotušės aikštė”), avenue of freedom (“Laisvės alėja”), famous house of the Pagan god Perkūnas and several gothic churches. Lunch. The trip to Klaipėda. Visit to old town, in which you will see some examples of German style building and its famous Theater square. Dinner. Accommodation in Klaipėda.
Optional: After lunch visit the ethnographic museum in Rumšiškės near Kaunas.
DAY 4: CURONIAN SPIT
Breakfast. Departure by bus to visit the Curonian Spit. Transfer by ferry from Klaipėda to the Curonian Spit. The Curonian Spit included in the list of World Heritage sites of UNESCO since 2000, is a narrow strip that separates the Curonian Lagoon from the Baltic Sea, composed of sandy and huge dunes. Stop in the small town Juodkrantė to see the hill of witches (“Raganų kalnas”). The trip to Nida. Visit to Parnidis dune (“Parnidžio kopa”) and walk through the village. Lunch. Return to Klaipėda. Dinner. Accommodation in Klaipeda.
DAY 5: PALANGA – HILL OF CROSSES – RUNDALE
Departure by bus to Riga. Short stop in Palanga, where is the main destination of summer. Walk around the city to the sea. The trip to Riga. Stop to the hill of crosses. This is a symbol of Lithuanian people’s resistance against Russian occupation. Stop in Rundale. Lunch. Visit to the Palace of Rundale. The trip to Riga. Dinner. Accommodation in Riga.
DAY 6: RIGA
Breakfast. Tour with the guide to the historic Riga’s center. Here you can visit Lutheran Cathedral, St. Peter’s Church, House of Blackheads, Catholic Cathedral, Freedom Monument, Riga castle and the art nouveau district and others. Lunch. Free time after lunch. Dinner. Accommodation in Riga.
Optional: After lunch visit the small town Jurmala, located about 30 km from Riga. Jurmala is a resting place of Latvians. It has many resorts and beaches.
DAY 7: SIGULDA – TALLINN
Breakfast. Departure by bus to Tallinn. Stop to the Gauja national park, located between the towns Sigulda and Valmiera, where you will see some castles, belonging to the Order of Livonia. Lunch. The trip to Tallinn. Free timein the afternoon. Dinner. Accommodation in Tallinn.
DAY 8: TALLINN
Breakfast. Tour with English speaking guide to Tallinn’s old town. Visit to Town Hall square, Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, St. Maria Cathedral and old Walls of middle ages. Lunch. Free afternoon to visit one of the many museums in the capital, shopping, or doing any other leisure activity and entertainment. Dinner. Accommodation in Tallinn.
Optional: After lunch visit the Kadriorg palace, located outside of Tallinn.
DAY 9: LAHEMAA PARK
Breakfast. Departure by bus to the national park Lahemaa – the largest park. You can see here many eighteenth-century estates, inheritance of the former German landowners who managed the land until the early twentieth century. Lunch. Return to Tallinn. Free time in the afternoon. Farewell dinner. Accommodation in Tallinn.
DAY 10: DEPARTURE
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure by bus to international airport Tallinn.
